Staying in European hotels was considerably cheaper in the last quarter of
2005, according to hotels.com. The biggest drop in prices was in Stockholm
where hotel charges declined 24 per cent about 117 Euros a night.

this is an old article but I think is important as case study to understand the impact of yield management and low cost companies strategy in hospitality industries.
Now we can say that this strategy is useful for companies to maximize benefit, occupacy etc. and for guests to have a good service with a good price.
But I ask you, is only this the motive?
Why have the prices dropped? Did the decrease increase bookings? What do you think the motive is?
